Anyone can choose to be Andrew Tanaka, Calvin Hopkins, Eric Camacho or any other fighter to join Prizefighters 2. Once inside the ring, all you have to do is punch your opponent until they are defeated. This game's control scheme is extremely difficult to understand; the game screen is split into two parts, with each half containing 5 squares. You can ignore up to 2 of the 5 squares by focusing on the 4 leftmost squares. From these 4 squares, you can move forward, backward, dodge left or right while blowing a kiss. The leftmost square is the attack button. When you hold down both the defense button and one of the two adjacent squares, your character adopts a defensive stance that blocks incoming attacks. Additionally, the game provides you with the option to control your character by swiping and tapping on the touchscreen.

Gladiators are trained in stamina and resistance, so they only lose a little bit of health before they need to use skill points to do an extra powerful strike. Gladiators can use skills to perform a powerful wing punch or a jaw hook that causes death. When attacking an opponent, one skill energy pot appears below the health bar every time you press a button. By holding down a button and attacking an opponent, additional skill points are added below the health bar.

The standalone version is meant to be entertaining and addictive, but the publisher also wants you to use your creativity by making customizations with the feature. Currently, this feature can only be accessed through purchasing the Premium version. You can change the appearance of the arena, change the style of the strings, and even modify how the arena rules are set.
